Searching for where to stay in Praslin? On the second biggest granitic island in Seychelles and home of Anse Lazio and UNESCO Site Valle de Mai Nature Reserve. Then keep reading.

I’ve visited this palm island many times over the last few years. Here I will highlight my picks for the best Praslin hotels, villas, and self-catering accommodations.

BEST praslin STAY

luxurious place to stay on Praslin ISLAND

One of the best luxury hotels in Seychelles on the northwest of Praslin with a golf course. Offering stunning views. Indulge in a spa, delicious cuisine, and swim on a private beach.

Book your stay today

Many only come here for the famous beaches and to learn all the fun facts about the Coco de Mer palm tree. However, I’ve found this to be the most serene and peaceful of all three most visited Seychelles islands.

That is why, I always suggest spending at least a night or two here.

I stayed in two of the places mentioned, and visited three others (one was only to have early dinner). You can stay on East or West, on the South or North of the island, there really is no shortage of options.

Now, have a look at the best places to stay on Praslin.

FRIENDLY REMINDER
Never leave for a trip without travel insurance. Unexpected issues can arise so I suggest using insurance that covers people from all over the world, while outside their home country. You can buy this travel insurance even if you are already abroad.

Where to stay on Praslin Island

Praslin is the second largest island in Seychelles. It is only 4 km wide (2.5 mi) and 11 km (7 mi) long, so reaching the most popular things to do in Praslin will be harder than on the neighboring island La Digue.

So choosing where to stay might play a more significant role.

The whole array of accommodations is placed all around the island. From resorts to hotels, villas, and self-catering apartments. And each area caters to all of them. So, if you look at the map on Expedia or Booking, you can see hotel pins like a circle surrounding the island.

Reaching all the areas with a public bus or Tata, will be a bit harder (and will take longer), while cycling is an option but I don’t recommend it. The best option is to rent a car or choose an area that will suit your mode of transport in Praslin.

Contrary to La Digue, which is easy to get around by bike, the must-do things in Praslin are further apart.

Public transport can take you to some areas, but renting a car is recommended, especially for more remote spots. Car will also come in handy if you plan to visit some of the most popular things to do in Mahé

Below I mention the main three areas for staying on Praslin Island. those are the ones that are the easiest to get to, and have the most tourist infrastructure and restaurants.

For private island stays, check out my other article on the best luxury hotels in Seychelles.

Baie Ste Anne
Baie Ste Anne
area is on the south of the island, close to Praslin jetty and Cat Cocos ferry terminal.

This is great for anyone coming to the island by ferry from La Digue and Mahé. It is only a short drive away from Vallée de Mai but it lacks beautiful beaches nearby and stunning views. You will find shops and local takeaways but not many upscale dining options. It is great for budget travelers.

Cote d’Or or Anse Volbert
Cote d’Or or Anse Volbert
area is on the east side of the island and the most popular area to stay on Praslin.

It is perfect if you want a central location with easy access to restaurants, shops, and Anse Volbert Beach. Anse Lazio and Vallée de Mai are almost the same distance away from the area. Here you will find the most accommodation options to suit every budget.

Grand Anse
Grand Anse
is on the opposite side of the island than Cote d’Or.

It is on the middle west part of Praslin, and perfect place for those who love watching sunsets. It is close to the Praslin airport if you decide to get to here by plane. Compared to Cote d’Or this is a much quieter area, but you will find shops and some great places to stay. Hotels in this area are close to Vallée de Mai, but further away from Anse Lazio.

FRIENDLY REMINDER
You must have all of your Seychelles accommodation booked BEFORE coming to Seychelles. At immigration and when boarding a ferry, you will be asked where you’re staying. If you don’t have it booked, you will be asked to do it at the airport.
