Was booking a Rove Downtown hotel just a blind guess?
Yes! It was.
Was it a good one?
Absolutely! It turned out to be one of the best lucky guesses I’ve made in a while.
Dubai. Destination I was always secretly looking.
This famous and modern city was always on my list but never made it to the top.
Because we all know prioritizing a travel wishlist is hard! Right? Don’t tell me I am the only one.
(laughing and thinking where I should go next)
What finally made the cut was a sum of events that connected perfectly. Like jigsaw pieces coming together.
To start with, one of my favorite airlines, Turkish Airlines, was having an amazing deal for flights to Dubai (with a free stopover in Istanbul). Furthermore, the deal was perfectly timed with the beginning of my annual leave. Third, Dubai is one of the safest destinations for solo female travelers. And last, I was in desperate NEED of hot weather and a warm sea. Perfect! Just perfect!

Disclosure (being transparent and honest should be fun): You know the way I run this blog. I only recommend products, experiences, hotels, etc. that I personally tried and actually own and use. If you click on this link and buy something you like, I’ll earn some money. I’m talking huge bucks here, like a new Tesla, yacht, and 7-bedroom mansion. Ok, honestly, most of the time it will be enough to help me buy treats for my dog and parrot, eco-friendly travel products or to help me build the time machine, and travel back in time to see the dinosaurs, do an interview of stone crafters on Easter island and have a serious chat with masterminds who ‘invented’ Maths. “Don’t be surprised if you fall in love with Rove. Staying there will make you feel like at home, a place where you belong. Surrounded by like-minded friendly people just waiting to explore something new.”
How I choose my hotel stay
I had a rough idea of how I wanted to spend my 5 days in Dubai. What was giving me the hard time was deciding where to stay. In 99,9% of my travels I book my stay through Booking.com, but when I typed in Dubai … I got more than 3000 search results. A lot of hotels to choose from. A lot! Which is great but not helpful at all.
What helped me to narrow down the selection were 3+1 things that I always look for when choosing my accommodation.
I start my selection process using two sites; Tripadvisor and Booking.com.
On Tripadvisor, I check hotel reviews and compare prices on various booking sites. At times I even book through them because they do have great rates. So, go check them out. Plus, Tripadvisor is great for itinerary ideas and tour recommendations. Their forum is full of people from all around the world, who are ready to help with ideas and suggestions. Then, when I have a list of hotels that would be a possible choice, I go to Booking.com and check the same hotel there.
What I look at when booking a hotel:
- Location. I like to select my accommodation close to the main attraction areas so that I am able to explore on foot and I don’t have to use public transport all the time. Since this was my first visit to Dubai (and now I can say that not the last) I was looking for an area close to the Burj Khalifa.
- Value for money. I would rather pay more to have a nicer room than save some $€. Those times, when I shared a dorm room with others to save money, are in the past. Now I want a nice (quiet) room, with a clean bathroom. Good beauty sleep is important! Especially if it is followed by a good breakfast!
- Good reviews and ratings. On Booking.com I go for hotels that have an overall rating above 8, but aim for 9 and higher. I also read reviews and choose the accommodation that has more than 20 of them. Before that, I only select the hotels that have an overall score above 4 on Tripadvisor.
- Offers breakfast! After all three of the above, this is a bonus amenity that I always check if it is available (nope, not wifi). I am one of those, that has to eat as soon as they wake up. A good breakfast. Not just a coffee and a croissant. Without breakfast, my day is ruined, no matter what happens later on during the day.

Why stay at Rove Downtown
When I booked Rove Downtown hotel I had no idea what to expect. What I can say now is that Rove exceeded my expectations in oh so many ways. The Rove Downtown is unlike any hotel I have ever stayed at. It is modern but it makes you feel at home. It is designed for travelers but it feels like you are staying with a family. It is luxurious but affordable.
If you are still deciding where to stay when in Dubai, here are some of the reasons why you should consider staying in Rove Downtown and why staying there will be the best decision you will make. Rove Downtown is part of Rove Hotel group in UAE. This exquisite hotel group has nine separate hotels situated in various locations across Dubai. Rove Hotel Downtown is situated in the heart of Downtown Dubai and offers views of the world-known Burj Khalifa.
There is nothing better than waking up in Dubai and looking at the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, from your bed.
1. Location and the view!
Just imagine waking up in the futuristic city of Dubai. All refreshed and energized, ready to start exploring. You jump out of the bed, open a window curtain and are greeted by a jaw-dropping view of the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa. You can literally start Instagramming from your bed.
And if that is not impressive enough, you have the biggest shopping mall just across the street, no further than 10 minute walk. In fact, Rove Downtown is a walking distance away from all the major sights in Downtown Dubai. It is adjacent to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, which means you don’t even have to Uber. Public transportation (Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station & bus station in front of Dubai Mall) and Instagram Photo spots are easy to reach on foot. That’s not all, the hotel is only 12.5 km from the Dubai International Airport.

2. Affordable and aesthetically pleasing
Now you might be thinking ‘’Being so close to Downtown and having a Burj Khalifa view must cost a fortune’’. Well not in this case. Oh, the value! The value for the money is insane. Even if you are traveling solo, the view of the tallest building will not break the bank.
From the moment you step inside the hotel you are greeted with sophistication and a special experience, that feels modern, cozy, stylish, and uncomplicated. It feels like you belong.
Staying here is pleasant for your eyes and for your bank account. Attention to detail is immaculate and if you appreciate aesthetics, you will not be disappointed. Amazing details will surprise you every day of your stay; from the clock above the reception, tiny plants in jars, to quotes hanging above your bed. They pay attention to the smallest details, cheeky room keys, or pleasant and familiar scent when you walk in the doors.
Rove’s philosophy; “Explore without borders”.

3. Universal – There is something for everyone
I was here for pleasure on my 5-day trip to Dubai. But the hotel is perfect if you are here for work or are here on a short stay as a digital nomad. I have met other solo travelers, couples, and families with kids. It is universal and suitable for everyone – just like their USB and wall sockets. Finally, a hotel, where you don’t need a power adapter or search for one.
Apart from the usual hotel facilities, like a salt-water swimming pool, fitness center, lockers, and luggage rooms … here you will also find playrooms, play stations, and a cinema. You can even book a Gaming room with a powerful gaming rig.
There is a small fully equipped supermarket next to the common area. In their TGI Fridays restaurant, they serve amazing breakfast (menu & buffet) with a real deal coffee! They are also open at lunch and dinner when you can order from a menu. Did I mention Starbucks in the lobby? But if you feel lazy you can also order Deliveroo to your room.
Rove’s sustainability efforts; “Check-in with Plastic; Check-out with Dinner”.

4. Designed for travelers but with sustainability in mind
Rove’s philosophy is ‘to explore without borders’. Their theme is travel and their aesthetics is sure to excite every wanderlust soul. Their aim is to give more freedom and possibilities to travelers but with environmentalism and sustainability in mind.
Their decors, quotes, and accessories directly speak to the adventurous individuals but their actions show commitment to sustainable tourism.
Rove hotels are the proud owner of Travel Sustainable property on Booking.com and have been awarded Green Key eco-label certification. They are trying to be more sustainable and help the environment in 4 main areas.
- Save energy with using solar panels and LED lights.
- Save water with salt-water swimming pool and recycling.
- Waste reduction with no paper invoices and no more plastic straws.
- Recycling water and food waste plus the best one of all ‘Check-in with Plastic; Check-out with Dinner’.
A great example to show that travel and a luxurious lifestyle can go hand in hand with environmentalism and sustainability.

All of the above in a nutshell
The Rove Downtown contributed greatly to my time and experiences in Dubai. Their room with a Burj Khalifa view was spacious and clean. Breakfast at GI Fridays was extremely delicious – the menu and buffet one. Coffee – amazing! Staff is friendly and helpful. They suggest what to do, the best restaurants, best photo spots, ideas where to go and helped with arranging tours and transportation. Location is perfect – just across the Dubai Mall. And even the airport can be reached by using their public transport. So, if you are looking for a hotel at the top location, that is wallet-friendly and will make you feel like at home, I would highly recommend Rove Downtown.
If you need more data to make your decision, (and think I am not that trustworthy), have a look at their ratings & reviews on other booking sites:
- Superb 9,1 on Booking.com
- Excellent 9,1 on Kayak
- Exceptional 9,1 on Agoda
- Excellent 4,5 on Tripadvisor
