There are daily ferry connections between Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue, the three main islands of the Seychelles.
You go to La Digue by air flying to Praslin and taking a ferry from there, or book a short helicopter flight from Mahé.
I always traveled to La Digue by Cat Cocos ferry. First, taking the ferry from Mahe to Praslin, where I stayed for a couple of days to explore the island. From there I travel around La Digue, and stay in La Digue for two nights, before going back to Mahe airport.
I would highly recommend booking your ticket in advance using Cat Cocos online booking system, especially, if you are traveling to Seychelles during their high season (April-May, October-November) which is also the best time to visit La Digue.

The most common transfer method is by Cat Cocos ferry from Mahé to La Digue Seychelles.

This is a faster and more expensive option but you also get a scenic flight from Mahé to Praslin. The flight time is around 20 minutes and you can expect to pay from 130-230€ ($140 – 250) for a one-way ticket.
From Praslin airport, you will need to take a taxi to the Jetty, which will cost from 30€ ($35). The drive will take around 15 minutes.
The last step will be a ferry or private boat charter to La Digue. Read more about this in the next section.

Private boat transfer from Mahé to La Digue
Private boat transfer from Mahé to La Digue is the most exclusive and luxurious.
I’ve seen families and honeymooners renting private boats from one island to another. With a private interisland transfer, you will avoid ferry queues in Victoria, your travel time will be shorter plus you will be able to have some drinks along the way.
Booking a private boat transfer to La Digue will be a pricier option than taking a ferry or flight + ferry mentioned above.
If private transfer is something that you are looking for, I would recommend traveling with LizzyBoat.
Day trip from Mahé to La Digue
You can also come from Mahé to La Digue on a day trip.
I haven’t visited the island on a day trip and I would strongly recommend you to stay on La Digue for at least two days.
There are many things to do on La Digue, besides Anse Source D’Argent, that would be a shame to miss. But if you only have a limited amount of days in your Seychelles itinerary, one day will do.
For a self-organized Mahé to La Digue day trip book an early morning ferry at 8:00 and arrive at La Digue at 9:30. Then book the last ferry back to Mahé at 16:30 or 17:00 (look at the times in the tables above). This will give you around 7 hours on the island.
Another option is to book a day trip from Mahé. You can opt-in for a shared (less flexibility) or a private one (more flexibility).
How to get from Praslin to La Digue Island
You can get from Praslin to La Digue in three different ways. By ferry, with a private transfer, and on a day trip.
Ferry from Praslin to La Digue
I always took a ferry from Praslin to La Digue.
There are two ferry companies, Cat Cocos and Cat Rose, running multiple routes between the two islands several times per day.
The journey to La Digue from Praslin lasts around 15 minutes. Expect to pay 16€ ($17) for a one-way ferry price ticket on Cat Rose or around 12€ ($13) with Cat Cocos per person.
Both companies operate regularly and depending on the day you can choose from 6 vessels from Cat Rose and 3 with Cat Cocos.
Private boat transfer from Praslin to La Digue
You can also come from Praslin to La Digue with a private boat transfer.
With LizzyBoat you can set up your schedule or add a few snorkeling stops in between.
Hiring a private boat is a luxurious option for traveling between the two islands. You will have privacy and will avoid other tourists visiting Seychelles. A perfect option for celebrities staying in luxurious resorts and honeymooners.
Day trip from Praslin to La Digue
Another way to visit La Digue is by a day trip from Praslin to La Digue.
With many ferries between the islands, this is easy to self-organize. Booking the first ferry leaving Praslin at 7.00 (Cat Rose) and the last one leaving La Digue at 17:00 will give you around 10 hours on the island.
For a carefree time, there is also a full-day tour of La Digue from Praslin available.
