Must know about Burj Khalifa

“F**k this is tall!” were my first words when setting my eyes on Burj Khalifa. 
And it is. It is the tallest tower in the World. It holds 7 Guinness World Records.

Now, I am positive you know or have come across amazing facts and figures about this famous building. Like, the one that is 830 meters (2,720 feet) tall. Or the one that the tip of the building can be seen from 95 kilometers (60 miles) away.

But did you know that it was first named Dubai tower?
Yeah, it was later changed to Burj Khalifa. Building the tower was expensive and financially too big for the Emirati government. To complete the building, the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Khalifa Bin Zayed, donated a large sum of money. To honor the donation, the skyscraper got his name, Khalifa. The word ‘Burj’ means tower in Arabic.

Inside Khalifa tower there is a hotel, residential buildings, offices, and restaurants … There is also a part that you, as a tourist, can visit. The entrance to Burj Khalifa is at the Ground Level of Dubai Mall.

I used this ticket to access the observation deck on levels 124 and 125. I went ‘up there’ at sunset so the price of the ticket was a bit higher. You can also go to level 148 or to 152+153+154, the highest accessible part. Admission cost will depend on the level you want to go and time of the day (morning, daytime, sunset, night). Whichever you choose, book your tickets in advance, to get a preferred time slot using this site.

2. Manzil Downtown

Manzil Downtown is a centrally located 4-star hotel. You can find it in the Old Town of Downtown Dubai, close to the famous Instagrammable spot wings of Mexico and 10 minute’s walk to Dubai Mall. Mazil Downtown prides itself on traditional architecture and is close to Manzil souk. There is Mediterranean cuisine served at Boulevard Kitchen. You can try grilled food from the tri-nation countries at Nezesaussi Grill or dine at the Courtyard. Some of the rooms provide a view of the Burj Khalifa and the rest look at the pool. Hotel has free parking available on-site, an outdoor swimming pool, and 24-h fitness center.

Vida Downtown is a 4-star hotel, perfect for business travelers. Located in the Old Part of Dubai Downtown is only a short walk away from two famous Dubai photo spots; Wings of Mexico and Palace hotel. Dubai fountains and Dubai Mall are 10 minute walk away. Manzil souk is close by. This boutique hotel allows pets, has an outdoor pool and gym. This is a popular hotel for couples, especially at night because of all the ambient lighting on the hotel terraces.

4. Ramada Downtown Dubai

Ramada Downtown Dubai is an older aparthotel in Dubai’s most popular district. It is located right next to Dubai Opera and 10 minute walk away from the Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar. This is also a hotel, where you can have an amazing view of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountains for a very affordable price. If walking is not your thing you can take advantage of their free shuttle service to Jumeirah Beach Park, Dubai Mall, and the Metro. Spacious rooms have a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, and laundry facilities. At Ramada Downtown Dubai you can find swimming pool, gym, badminton court and an all-day dining restaurant.

5. Gevora

Gevora, the tallest hotel in the World, is a 4-star hotel located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road. Gevora hotel is in the spotlight of Dubai’s Trade Centre Area and is great for guests who are in Dubai for business or leisure. It is 10 minute drive away from Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and the fountains. Here guests will find two gyms, one for the ladies and one for the gents, and a swimming pool. At Gevora there are 5 restaurants, an international, two Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, offering a wide variety of cuisines. For a view of the city skyline, you should go to Pool Bar offering drinks and snacks, or Highest View Restaurant on the 75th floor.

Taj Dubai is Indian themed hotel in the heart of the business bay, 10 minute drive from Burj Khalifa. This luxurious and modern hotel has 5 stars. The most famous room is Maharaja suite with stunning views of Burj Khalifa and Indian artifacts. Hotel offers free parking, is close to Business bay Metro station and Burj Khalifa Metro station. In addition, hotel offers a free shuttle bus to Dubai Mall and other local attractions. It has an outdoor pool, wellness center, gym, and spa. Here you can also find the exclusive nightclub Billionaire Mansion. Taj Dubai offers diverse dining options, from international dishes to Indian cuisine and Asian street food.

They are next to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station and offer free parking. Dubai Mall and Burj are a 10-minute walk away easily reached through an air-conditioned skywalk, connecting the metro and mall. Address Sky View offers a sun terrace, sauna, and guest exclusive sky view pool overlooking the tallest building in the world. Their famous infinity pool, alongside the Ce la vi restaurant next to them, has made it to the list of the most Instagrammable places in Dubai.

8. Palace Downtown

Palace Downtown is a 5-star hotel with a central location. This Arabian-style hotel is also one of the most photographed Instagram locations in Dubai. Palace hotel looks at the Dubai fountain and has stunning views of Burj Khalifa. Guests can enjoy in luxurious rooms, Hammam, spa, and in a  gym with a personal trainer. 10. Sofitel Dubai Downtown

Sofitel Dubai has a central location in Downtown Dubai. This is the only 5-star hotel directly connected to Dubai Mall with an air-conditioned glass tunnel. Being near the Dubai Mall also means being close to Burj Khalifa and dubai fountains. Dubai Opera, City Walk, and Coca-Cola Arena are a few minutes away from the hotel. They offer a complimentary shuttle bus going to Kite Beach, The Mall of the Emirates, and other destinations. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool, garden and spa. Sofitel manages to combine European heritage and local culture in an elegant and sophisticated way. Lovers of french flavors and french pastries should pay a visit to their restaurant.

11. Dusit Thani Dubai

Dusit Thani Dubai is a Thai-style-decorated hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. Luxurious hotel is in the heart of Dubai’s financial district, halfway between Burj Khalifa in the Financial center metro station. It has a central location and offers free parking. Guests can use a free shuttle service to Dubai Mall, Jumeirah Beach Park, or other locations. The Museum of the future, World Trade Center and the International Convention Center are close by. Hotel has a rooftop pool with panoramic views over Dubai. They also have a gym and spa. Since Dusit Thani is a style hotel, their restaurant offers authentic Thai dishes.

Shangri-La Dubai 5-star Asian-style hotel located alongside Sheikh Zayed Road. Getting from the hotel to the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall will take about a 10-minute drive. Guests here will get a world-class hospitality service and will be able to enjoy two swimming pools, spa and a health club. Hotel guests can also play a match of tennis. Shangri-La bathrooms have a bathtub and a rainforest shower. There are eight restaurants on-site and bar. Their Level 42 is a popular photo spot for Instagram influencers, bloggers and photographers who are trying to capture the Dubai Skyline with Burj Khalifa.

Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa are 2 metro stops, or a short drive away. This is an elegantly furnished award-winning hotel with world-class service. Guests here can sweat out in the gym or relax in Talise Spa. They can also treat their taste buds in one of 9 dining and nightlife venues that include some award-winning restaurants. From Italian and French cuisine to organic and healthy meals. With amazing views of Dubai skyline, this is a great hotel for solo travelers, business visits, families and couples.

Park Regis Kin Kin is a bit further out of Downtown Dubai. It is not the closest to the Burj Khalifa but it does fall into the category of affordable and stylish hotels with the tallest tower view. The hotel is located close to Dubai Frame, one of the most photographed attractions, Spice Souk, Dubai Museum, and Dubai Creek. Hotels rooftop pool offers amazing views of the Dubai skyline and Burj Khalifa. Guests can enjoy in gym, sauna and steam room. Burj Khalifa is around 15-minute drive away. At Grandstand Bar you can indulge in international/western cuisine, or try Indian cuisine in the Masala Bazaar restaurant.

Four Seasons Resort Dubai is a 5-star resort located on Jumeriah beach. The luxurious resort has a private beach and is a 15-minute drive away from Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Guests can enjoy exquisite modern-styled rooms with Arabic elegance, bathrooms with Murano glass, bathtubs and a rain shower. Hotel has 2 outdoor swimming pools, an indoor pool, a spa, and a 24-hours gym. They don’t have gaming rooms but you can request a PlayStation or an Xbox. For dining you can not only choose the cuisine but also about the view; Hendricks Bar offers a sea view and Mercury Lounge offers Burj Khalifa and City view.

They differ in the distance from Burj Khalifa to amenities, style and price of the room. For more budget-friendly versions stay in one of the Rove Downtown rooms. If you still want to stay closer and have an access to one of the best infinity swimming pools, stay at Address Sky View. If you want to see the Burj Khalifa but at the same time enjoy your time on the beach, book a room at Four Seasons Resort. You will get the best of both worlds.
