Seychelles itinerary overview
This Seychelles itinerary could be divided into three different parts; Mahé itinerary, Praslin itinerary, and La Digue itinerary as you will be visiting all three main islands of Seychelles.
Do I really have to visit all three?
Yes!
Because you haven’t really experienced Seychelles if you only stay in Mahé.
You will spend the first 3 days on the main island Mahé, 3 days on Praslin, and the last 4 days on my favorite island La Digue. The itinerary will highlight the best and most amazing things to see on each of them.
There’s a lot to see on every island and there are hundreds of interesting facts about Seychelles worth discovering before your trip.
Do note that this is a semi-relaxed itinerary for Seychelles. If you are only coming to Seychelles to spend time in a resort by the pool, this might not be for you. While this travel plan offers plenty of beach time, there are days for sightseeing, active days with hikes and kayaking, and day trips.
So let’s waste no more time and let’s get you ready for the dream trip to Seychelles!

Detailed 10 days in Seychelles itinerary
Day 1: Mahe Itinerary – Get around the island or Road trip on Mahé, Victoria and Beau Vallon
Most flights flying to Seychelles land in this tropical paradise early in the morning. So get some sleep on the plane and be ready to explore as soon as you land at Mahé International Airport.
Depending on your landing time, decide on your plan.
My landing times were from 6 am to 11 am. For early landings, have a quick bite at the Coffee Shop at the airport. Breakfast places in Victoria open at 8 am, like Glorious Bakery, or later.
After the formalities, exchange some money for Seychelles Rupee at the airport. At least a small amount of it. Some places take credit cards (+ fee), and others also accept Euros. The differences between exchange at the airport and in Victoria are so small, that it does not make sense (money and time spent) to exchange money twice.
I always booked a day tour in Mahé or a private driver. I never rented a car in Seychelles, because I would only need it on day 1. There is a bus from Beau Vallon to Anse Major and Victoria, and they drive on the left in Seychelles.
Start your day in Victoria, one of the smallest capitals in the world. You will need no more than 2 hours for all the top things to do in Victoria. They are all within walking distance.
Then begin with a scenic road trip on Mahé, the largest island in Seychelles. It will be packed but you will be able to see all most of the best things to do in Mahé. If you would rather spend the day on the beach, head to Beau Vallon.
First go up the Sans Soucis Road, all the way to Venn’s Town – Mission Lodge Lookout (SCR 100 | 7€ | $8). Road is winding so take some medications if you are prone to car sickness.
On the other side of the island, visit Sauzier waterfall, close to Port Glaud (SCR 50 | 3,5€ | $4). Continue driving on the West coast towards the south past some of the best beaches in Mahé; Anse Soleil, Anse Intendance, Anse Takamaka, and Anse Royale.
Make a pit stop at Takamaka Rum Distillery on the East Coast, where you can learn about the art of rum-making and sample some of Seychelles’ finest spirits.
On your way to accommodation in Beau Vallon, have dinner at Marie Antoinette restaurant. It is one of the oldest restaurants and one of the best places offering traditional Creole cuisine on the island.
Where to stay in Mahé, Seychelles:
I stayed in all of the places mentioned below. They all serve delicious breakfasts but vary in their location. My favorite would be Sun Properties & Resort Hotel.
• Hilltop Boutique Hotel is in Victoria, close to Marie Antoinette restaurant and within walking distance to Little Ben (clock tower), Hindu temple, and Victoria market.
• Sun Properties & Resort Hotel, has a perfect location and is close to Beau Vallon Beach and restaurants.
• Marie Laure Suites, is in Bel Ombre and around 15 min walk to Beau Vallon.
• Bambous River Lodge, in Bel Ombre, is a bit further inland with a gorgeous view over Silhouette Island.

Day 2: Mahé Itinerary – Anse Major Hike
Today you are going on a hike to Anse Major, one of Seychelles’ most pristine beaches.
To get to the trail, order a taxi at your accommodation or catch a local bus number 21 towards Bel Ombre and get off at the last stop. After you begin to walk uphill, you will start seeing the signs for the Anse Major Nature Trail.
The hike to Anse Major is 2,5 km (1.5 mi) long and takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours each way.
FRIENDLY REMINDER
As of 2024, there is an entrance fee (SCR 150 | 10€ | $11) to access the trail. You can only pay the fee by credit card (Amex, Mastercard, Visa), no cash. However, children under 12 years old can enjoy a hike for free.
I’ve been on this hike five times, and think it is lovely, offering stunning views of Silhouette Island and the coastline of Mahé. Anse Major is great for snorkeling as well. At the same time, I don’t think it is worth SCR 150.
You will be walking on the forest floor and on rocks so wear trainers or running shoes, as rocks can get slippery, as the terrain goes up and down. I’ve walked the hike once in flip-flops, but do not recommend it.
When in the forest, you will be able to can spot cinnamon, pineapples, and wild vanilla. There are also open spots, so don’t forget to bring sunscreen, with snacks and enough water. Bring cash for the beach bar at Anse Major, where you can enjoy delicious BBQ lunch and refreshments.
If you don’t feel like walking all the way back, you get a Happiness boat back to Bel Ombre (SCR 150 | 10€ | $11) or Beau Vallon (SCR 200 | 14€ | $15) which leaves every hour on the hour till 4 pm.
Spend some more time on the beach and have dinner in one of the takeaways or restaurants in Beau Vallon.
Day 3: Mahé Itinerary – Day trip to St. Anne National Park
Another day of exploring the beautiful islands of Seychelles. You are going on a day trip to St. Anne National Park. A marine reserve located just a short boat ride from Victoria, Mahé.
I usually go with a local tour company Ocean Bird Charters but you can also go on a similar tour called Reef Safari.
If you booked a hotel in Beau Vallon or in Bel Ombre, the tour operator will pick you up free of charge at your accommodation. If you stay in other parts of the island, there is an extra surcharge.
The tour consists of two main parts, snorkeling in St. Anne National Park and Moyenne Island. It will depend on what you will do first, based on the tides and weather.
To get there, you will drive past Eden island, Seychelles version of ‘Palm of Dubai.’
Before the snorkeling, you will hear all about the 5 islands in the Marine Park and how they served as the base for exploring Mahé for the first settlers.
You will then go snorkeling with some fish. They provide snorkeling gear on board, so you don’t have to bring your own.
On Moyenne Island, the world’s smallest National Park, you will meet Giant Aldabra Tortoises. They are endemic to Seychelles and are native to Aldabra Atoll, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Moyenne is a tortoise sanctuary and I recommend going around the island as it has some stunning viewpoints. It is a lovely, not too-challenging walk that can be done in flip-flops. You will need around 1 hour to get around the island.
After the ‘formal’ parts, there will be lunch. I’m going to lie, but I’m also not going to admit that the main reason I LOVE this tour so much is the delicious all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet lunch of local Seychelles cuisine. They prepare the best-grilled fish and seafood, with all the delicious side salads and … YUM!
The tour will finish between 4 and 5 pm, and the transport back will be included.
After an eventful day, have a refreshing dip in the sea or the hotel pool. If you are not still full from lunch, grab a bite from a local takeaway.
Day 4: Praslin Itinerary – Ferry to Praslin and Vallée de Mai
Today you are going to say goodbye to Mahé as you will be going to another stunning Seychelles island, Praslin. Book a morning 10:30 am ferry with Cat Cocos. Ferry is only one of the ways how to get to Praslin, and it takes a bit more than an hour.
If you are prone to seasickness, take a pill and sit towards the back of the boat. The ocean was rough only once (out of the 10+ times I used a ferry), but better to be safe than sorry.
Just like on Mahé, I never rented a car on Praslin but booked a driver, tour, or traveled with a bus. I didn’t think it would be worth it for me, but you do your calculation.
Usually, when I get to Praslin, I first go to the supermarket close to the Praslin ferry terminal to stock up on water and possible snacks.
Then I visit Vallée de Mai, UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I highly recommend going on a guided tour instead of walking around the Nature Reserve alone. Guides are extremely knowledgeable and will tell you many interesting facts about the Coco de Mer palm tree.
Some of them are Coco de Mer male and female trees. They are endemic to Seychelles and only produce nuts on Praslin Island. Their nut is the largest seed in the plant kingdom and is shaped like a woman’s bottom parts (front and back).
After drive to your hotel and have a relaxed afternoon on a beach or by the pool.
Have dinner at a local restaurant Coco Rouge (if not today tomorrow). It is a family-owned restaurant offering Seychellois cuisine for an affordable price. You can ask the owner on WhatsApp +248 2 581 014 if they will have a grilled fish in the evening, and order yours in advance.
P.S.: Ask about their dessert selection, as here is where I had the best, handmade ice cream ever!
Where to stay in Praslin, Seychelles:
I stayed in all of the places mentioned below. Actually, I stayed in one more, but I would not recommend staying here, so it is not mentioned below.
• Palm Beach Hotel is a Colonial-style hotel, steps away from Grande Anse Beach. Lovely breakfast!
• Chez Bea is a smaller, intimate but beautiful hotel, 5-minute walk to Cote D’Or and Anse Volbert.
• Cote D’Or Footprints are an upscale villas right on Cote D’Or.

Day 5: Praslin Itinerary – Beach day on Anse Lazio and optional hike to Anse Georgette
Finally a beach day! And it will be on my favorite beach in Seychelles, Anse Lazio. This is one of the best beaches in Praslin, located in the north of the island.
If you are more adventurous and don’t want to spend the whole day on a beach, Anse Lazio is also a starting point for the hike to Anse Georgette.
You can get to Anse Lazio by taxi (ask at your hotel) or by bus. I recommend taxi as it will drop you directly on the beach. With a bus, you will need to walk down steeply downhill for 1 km.
Before you get to the beach, there is a nice little shop on the right side selling snacks and souvenirs. There are restaurants on both sides of the beach.
Anse Lazio is a picturesque beach, as you will see for yourself. It is well worth visiting and I was swimming here.
However, there are some things I would like to inform you about Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. They are not protected by the reef, so there can be waves when the tide changes. I’ve found that Anse Georgette is rougher than Anse Lazio.
Also, both of those beaches are shark-pupping areas. I only saw 2, maybe 50 cm (20 inch) long, harmless reef sharks on all my visits to Seychelles combined.
I don’t want to scare you but there were some documented shark attacks on Anse Lazio. Shark-related incidents in Seychelles are extremely rare but they happen. That is why I would like you to follow some shark safety tips written below.
SHARK SAFETY TIPS:
• Swim close to shore and in waist-deep water.
• Avoid swimming too far off the shore, especially if you are alone.
• Avoid swimming at dawn and dusk (when the sharks are most active).
• Avoid swimming in areas where there are river outlets (where ocean and river mix sharks look for food).
• Avoid swimming where people are fishing.
• Avoid swimming where large schools of fish are present.
• Always swim or surf in groups! Never alone!
Now, if you don’t want to spend the whole day on the beach, you can go on a hike from Anse Lazio to Anse Georgette. This is one of the best things to do in Praslin.
It is a moderate hike, and a bit more challenging than the hike to Anse Major on Mahé. The path is marked with white arrows, so you can potentially do this hike without the guide. It is still recommended to have one. I needed 1.5 hours for the hike with stops in between to admire the scenery.
Wear trainers (no flip-flops, trust me on this!), bring a hat, sunscreen, and enough water!
Anse Georgette is a small beach on Praslin and part of the Constance Lemuria Resort. You can buy some smoothies and fruit at Anse Georgette, but no food. Waves were usually bigger than on Anse Lazio.
From the beach, you will first need to walk another 15 minutes to the resort. At security, they will help you get a taxi or tell you where the bus stop is.
Day 6: Praslin Itinerary – Day trip to Sister, Coco, and Félicité Island or Curieuse and St. Pierre
Time for another day trip to discover even more stunning granite islands of Seychelles. You can choose between two of them: a day trip to Sister, Coco and Félicité Island or a day trip to Curieuse and St Pierre Island.
I wrote more about the trip to Sister, Coco and Félicité Island in a post about the best things to do in La Digue. You can do this trip from either La Digue or Praslin. I would recommend this one over Curieuse and St Pierre Island, as it offers more variety to your Seychelles itinerary.
On a trip to Curieuse Island and St Pierre Island, you will meet Giant Aldabra tortoises and see Coco de Mer palm trees. Which you both saw already. There are BBQ lunch and snorkeling at St. Pierre Island included.
Day 7: La Digue Itinerary – Grande Anse to Anse Cocos hike
Finally! You are going to my favorite Seychelles island, La Digue. It is easy to get from Praslin to La Digue. Book a morning ferry with Cat Cocos or Cat Rose (one between 9 and 10). The ferry ride only takes 15 minutes.
The main mode of transportation in La Digue is bike. I would recommend renting one for the whole duration of your stay. You will need it! Expect to pay 150 SCR (10€ | $11) for a day or get yourself a discount of 100 SRC (7€ | $8) if renting for more than a day.
After you set into your hotel, start exploring the island.
Go to the south of the island and hike part of the Anse Caiman trail, from Grand Anse to Anse Cocos through the cinnamon forest.
Due to strong currents, swimming is not recommended on Grand Anse, and Petite Anse, but you can swim in a natural pool on Anse Cocos. After, have a BBQ lunch at Coco Bar (bring cash!).
On your way back stop at Mimi’s Cafe for the best coconut cheesecake and coconut ice cream.
You can call it a day, or go to Anse Severe for a quick swim and snorkel. Alternatively, just grab a cocktail from a Bikini Bottom bar and admire the sunset over Praslin Island.
Where to stay in La Digue, Seychelles:
• La Digue Self Catering Apartments is where I usually stay. Rooms are beautiful and are close to the jetty.
• Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a perfect beachfront location on La Digue. Great sunset dinner spot!
• L’Orangerie is an upscale luxurious stay, and they have great cocktails!
• Zerof Guest House more budget-friendly option with delicious takeaway.

Day 8: La Digue Itinerary – Beach day on Anse Source D’Argent + kayaking
Today you will switch on island time and spend your day relaxing on the most photographed beach Anse Source D’Argent. A must-do in La Digue.
It is one of the best beaches in La Digue, famous for granite boulders, powdery white sands, and crystal-clear waters. I have hundreds of photos of it! To get there you will have to pay an entrance fee for L’Union Estate of 150 SCR (10,5 | $11) (cost in April 2024).
While there, don’t forget to visit the old cemetery, old plantation house, and Aldabra tortoise enclosure of the L’Unione Estate farm, a former vanilla and coconut plantation.
For an unforgettable experience, join the Robinson Crusoe Tour with Crystal Water Kayaks. I love it! You will paddle along famous Anse Source D’Argent to a secluded beach, that was used as a movie set in Robinson Crusoe movie.
To make this day even better, book your drone photoshoot on the beach. Read more in Anse Source D’Argent photoshoot.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a million. If both of those are made in paradise … the value is priceless.
Have dinner in one of the local takeaways or end the amazing day with a fancy dinner in Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel or Fish Trap (I also like their breakfast menu).
Day 9: La Digue Itinerary – Hike to Nid D’Aigle or Anse Marron
This day can be as active as you like. You can spend another day snorkeling on Anse Severe or explore more of La Digue.
La Digue offers a lot of hiking trails, so you can sign up for one or two memorable hikes to either Nid D’Aigle or Anse Marron.
The hike to Nid D’Aigle is shorter and steeper. You can do it without a guide. Start at Belle Vue and plan around 45 minutes to get to the highest point of La Digue. I recommend doing this hike early in the morning when the temperatures are lower.
Alternatively, if you can sign up for the Anse Marron hike. You will need to book a guide for this one. This trail will take you along the La Digue coastline to the southernmost beach, Anse Marron.
It is not as steep as Nid D’Aigle, but you will walk in the sea that can be waist high and climb some boulders. Plan from 6-7 hours for this tour.
Whichever hike you choose, be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and good walking shoes.
After your hike, take some time to relax and unwind on the beach.
Since this is your last night in Seychelles, treat yourself with a nice meal in Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel or Fish Trap (I also like their breakfast menu).
Day 10: La Digue Itinerary- Explore North of La Digue Island and head home
Today you will be exploring the North and East coast of La Digue.
Book a late ferry from La Digue to Mahe to follow today’s travel plan. Check your flight itinerary to be sure, but most of the flights leave Seychelles in the evening.
The ferry ride will take around 1.5 hours and plan another 20 minutes to get from the Cat Cocos Berth to Seychelles International Airport by taxi.
FRIENDLY REMINDER
If traveling during holidays, book ferries in advance to get your ticket as they get full, especially the late ones. (If you can’t get a late ferry, spend your day in Beau Vallon Beach)
Start by biking all the way to the end of the road on the East side of the island or to the Anse Fourmis. On the way back have a bite at Creole restaurant Chez Jules. It’s delicious but not budget-friendly.
Then on your way back, stop and have a dip on my favorite Anse Patates Beach.
Spend your last moments on La Digue snorkeling or swimming on Anse Severe. This is also a great stop, if you don’t have a whole day on La Digue or if you don’t want to bike to the end of the road.
Fully filled with memories, adventures, and experiences, go to the ferry, head back to the airport, and say goodbye to paradise (until next time).
MAP of itinerary for Seychelles
Possible Seychelles travel itinerary alterations
Shared 10 days in Seychelles itinerary is the refined version of many itineraries I’ve tried during my multiple visits.
It is more on the active side and I understand that not anyone wants the same from their Seychelles vacation. You might be traveling here outside of the best time to visit Seychelles and spend more or less time in this small African country. Therefore flexibility is key.
Below I offer some more Seychelles itinerary ideas on how you can adjust and customize itinerary for your needs.
Travel itinerary for less than 10 days in Seychelles
If you don’t have 10 days to spare and are wondering “How many days do you need in Seychelles?”, I would suggest spending at least a week in Seychelles, but still visit all three main islands, Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue.
For a 7 day Seychelles itinerary, I recommend spending 2 days in Mahé, 2 days in Praslin, and 3 days in La Digue.
In Mahé I would skip day 2 or day 3. If you want more beach time, go on a hike and if you want to see the tortoises, go for the Moyenne island tour.
In two days in Praslin, one option is to skip the day tour from the 10 day itinerary. Another option is to see Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio in one day and then go on a Curieuse and St. Pierre. If you choose this option, go to Anse Major hike and skip Moyenne, as you will see tortoises on Curieuse and snorkel at St. Pierre.
For three days in La Digue, I would probably skip hike to Nid d’Aigle and Anse Marron. If you plan to go on Crystal Water Kayaks tour, plan this and Anse Source D’Argent for your second day on La Digue.
Travel itinerary for more than 10 days in Seychelles
It is always nice to have extra days in your travel itinerary. You can include more beach time, more hiking time, or more snorkeling time.
For 2 weeks in Seychelles itinerary, I would add 1 more day in Mahé, 1 day in Praslin, and 1 in La Digue. The extra day left would depend on your preferences, which is perfect if you are planning your Seychelles honeymoon itinerary.
If you are a hiking enthusiast, you can add 1 or two more days in Mahé, to hike the Trois Frères Trail, Morne Blanc Trail, and Copolia Trail.
I would recommend adding an extra day or two to Praslin itinerary, if you want to include Fond Ferdinand trail, if you wish to get on another day trip or want more beach time.
More days in La Digue is always a good option if you ask me. That way you will have more beach time, more time for hikes, and more time to snorkel on one of the best beaches in Seychelles. Do note that you can also do the Sister, Coco and Félicité Island tour from La Digue.
Now that you have a better idea on your Seychelles itinerary, have a look at other Seychelles travel guides and find out how to get to Seychelles, how to get to La Digue, things to do in La Digue, things to do in Praslin, things to do in Mahé, what are the best beaches in Seychelles, where to stay and how Seychelles compare to Barbados and Zanzibar.
FAQ about travel itinerary for Seychelles
To get the taste of Seychelles at least 7 days or one week. That way you can visit all three main islands, Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue.
Absolutely! Seychelles are unique. They are famous for being beach destinations, great for a honeymoon, and great for hiking, wildlife, and snorkeling.
Visit all three main islands, Mahe, Praslin in La Digue. Plan 3 days in Mahe, 3 days in Praslin, and 4 days on La Digue.
There are daily ferries between the three main islands, Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue. There is a flight between Mahe and La Digue, and you can book a helicopter flight or private transfer.
There are two common mistakes. One is not to have your accommodation booked BEFORE coming to Seychelles (as per entry requirement). Another mistake is to only stay in Mahé, and only do a day trip to Praslin or La Digue.
